I 1 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JANUARY 11, 1988 <br />�23 WALDRON CONTINUED <br />Councilmember Callahan asked Mr. Waldron if the storm <br />damage could be repaired using his proposal without <br />creation of the walkout. <br />Mr. Waldron stated,it could be done to a certain extent <br />but would create less useable flat yard area. <br />Mayor Grabek felt it was inappropriate to allow the <br />creation of the walkout in conjunction with repairing <br />storm damage. <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember <br />Callahan, to deny the conditional use permit and <br />variance as proposed. <br />Councilmember Peterson asked Mr. Waldron if he would <br />have made the request for the creation of the walkout <br />had the storm damage not occurred? <br />Mr. Waldron stated he would not have made the request <br />based on the fact that the previous owner made a similar <br />request for a walkout and was rejected based on the fact <br />that there was no physical hardship. He felt in his <br />case at this time, the storm damage presented a definite <br />• physical hardship. <br />Councilmember- Sime also felt that a complete alteration <br />was inappropriate in conjunction with restoration of <br />storm damage. <br />Motion, Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />#1229 RICHARD HANSON <br />3826 CHERRY AVENUE <br />VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION #2344 <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the request for <br />a variance to construct a 3- season porch and deck within <br />the 75' lakeshore setback area. Planning Commission <br />recommended approval subject to redesign allowing a <br />sliding door on the south side of porch only. Applicant <br />has complied with Planning Commission's recommendation <br />to redesign plan. <br />Richard Hanson was present for this matter and had no <br />comments or questions. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Callahan, seconded by <br />Councimember Peterson,'to adopt Resolution #2344 per <br />Planning Commission recommendation as drafted.
