MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO <br />,t_ 2ROVAL OF MINUTES* <br />It was moved <br />Councilmember <br />July 13, 1987 <br />Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />COUNCIL MEETING HELD JULY 27, 1987 <br />by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Goetten, to approve the Minutes of the <br />Council Meeting as submitted. Motion, <br />PARK COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />HACKBERRY SKATING RINK <br />PUBLIC INFOMATIONAL MEETING 7:16 -7:20 <br />City Administrator Bernhardson stated that recently the <br />City received a petition requesting the installation of <br />a recreational ice skating rink at Hackberry Park. The <br />Park Commission has reviewed the request and recommended <br />construction of a 65'x 140' recreational (non- hockey) <br />skating rink. The proposed cost is $11,000 ($3,000 rink <br />and $8,000 well). <br />Public Works Coordinator Gerhardson reviewed the <br />proposed location of the rink in Hackberry Park. This <br />rink would be open to the public. There will be no <br />warming house, but benches will be provided. <br />Park Commission Chairman Robert Kost was present for <br />this matter. <br />Jim Dillman, 225 Willow Drive, stated he was in favor of <br />the proposed skating rink. ` <br />There were no other comments from the public regarding <br />this matter. ' <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember <br />Peterson, to conceptually approve the construction of a <br />recreational ice skating rink and well at Hackberry Park <br />and to direct staff to draft plans and specifications <br />to receive bids for the installation of a well. Motion, <br />Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT REPORT <br />-1988 LMCD BUDGET <br />Lake Minnetonka Conservation District Representative <br />Jo Ellen Hurr reported on the following: <br />-Lake Minnetonka's lake level rose approximately 12" <br />with the recent rain storms. <br />-1988 LMCD Budget - she totally supports staffs <br />recommendations. <br />-She is continuing to work for additional charges <br />for license fees from commercial type ventures. <br />-She reminded the Council of the upcoming Annual <br />Conference for Public Officials. They are scheduled <br />to meet at the Lafayette Club docks on August lst at <br />11:00 AM; there will be two Al & Alma's boats and <br />lunch will be served. Representatives from the <br />State and DNR will be present. <br />2 <br />
