MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JUNE 22, 1987 <br />SOREST ARMS PURCHASE AGREEMENT AMENDMENT CONTINUED <br />Councilmember Peterson felt that the Forest Arms <br />Homeowner's Association should be charged for the legal <br />services to change the contract. <br />Councilmember Sime disagreed with Councilmember Peterson <br />because he felt the change was due to an oversight in <br />the original purchase agreement. <br />James Grabek, 960 Forest Arms Lane, explained the <br />history of the property and events leading to the <br />purchase agreement. <br />Councilmember Goetten stated she could not make a <br />decision without more background information and talk to <br />others involved. She also noted that the Comprehensive <br />Plan states this property is a public park, and should <br />perhaps be amended. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan felt that the background <br />information would not effect this issue of method of <br />application of payments. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to table this matter until the <br />July 13th meeting for more information. Motion, Ayes 4, <br />Nays 0. Mayor Grabek abstained from voting. <br />APPROVAL OF POLICE INTERNSHIP - <br />JOHN ELDER <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to engage Mr. John Elder as an <br />intern in' the Police Department for a total of 360 hours <br />between 1 July 1987 and 1 October 1987 to be done on a <br />voluntary basis by Mr. Elder and not to conflict with <br />his role as a Police Reserve or as a Community Service <br />Officer. Moiton, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />AUTHORITY TO HIRE TEMPORARY PARK MAINTENANCE PERSON <br />It was moved by Councilmember Callahan, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, that Council acknowledge <br />information regarding hiring of a temporary parks <br />maintenance helper at their July 13, 1987 meeting. <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />AUTHORITY TO HIRE TEMPORARY SEPTIC & ZONING AIDE - <br />MARY JO KNOTT <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember <br />Goetten, to approve the hiring of Mary Jo Knott to serve <br />as an aide for the Zoning and Septic Departments as a <br />full -time temporary employee for the period beginning <br />June 23, 1987 through October 2, 1987 at an hourly wage <br />of $7.00 /hour.
