14INUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD APRIL 27, 1987 <br />CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES - ORDINANCE AMENDMENT <br />City Administrator Bernhardson presented a draft <br />ordinance establishing as a misdemeanor the dealing or <br />possession of any of the controlled substances <br />referenced. The City Attorney has reviewed the draft <br />and recommended some changes, staff is requesting <br />Council's conceptual approval at this time. <br />Councilmember Callahan questioned the need for <br />additional money not budgeted to prosecute such a <br />misdemeanor. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson stated that each <br />individual City is presently adopting this ordinance and <br />each would prosecute through their own prosecutors. <br />Staff hopes to generate the expenses of the <br />prosecutorial costs out of the fines. <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember <br />Peterson, to conceptually approve the drafted ordinance <br />and table for formal adoption, incorporating the City <br />Attorney's changes, at the May 11, 1987 Council meeting. <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />CITY FACILITIES SPACE STUDY* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Sime, that the City facilities space study <br />be tabled until the May 11, 1987 meeting. Motion, Ayes <br />4, Nays 0, Abstention 1. <br />SEWER CONNECTION CHARGE - ORDINANCE AMENDMENT* <br />ORDINANCE NO. 34 SECOND SERIES <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Sime, that Ordinance No. 34, Second Series <br />is adopted as an amendment to Ordinance No. 28, Second <br />Series to provide for connection charges for all lots <br />not previously assessed that are within a sewered area. <br />Motion, Ayes 4, Nays 0, Abstention 1. <br />RESIGNATION - OFFICER PETER BYDZOVSRY <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, that the City Council accepts <br />the resignation of Peter Bydzovsky as a full time Orono <br />Police Officer effective May 3, 1987. Motion, Ayes 5, <br />Nays 0. <br />PART TIME EMPLOYMENT - POLICE <br />PETER BYDZOVSKY <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, that City Council authorizes <br />hiring Peter Bydzovsky as a part time officer during the <br />month of May at the rate he would earn as a full time <br />officer not to exceed a total of 50 hours. Motion, Ayes <br />5, Nays 0. <br />13 <br />
