Orono Preserve Conservation Design Application <br /> Orono,Minnesota <br /> I. Introduction <br /> Estate Development is proposing a 39-lot single family residential development in the City of <br /> Orono. The 18.4-acre Orono Preserve site is located within E1/2 SE1/4 NW 1/4, Section 33, <br /> Township 118, Range 23, City of Orono,Hennepin County, Minnesota. The site is adjacent to <br /> and west of Old Crystal Bay Road in the sauthwest quadrant of its intersection with Wayzata <br /> Boulevard(Old Highway 12) (Figure 1). <br /> The site is being developed as a Conservation Design project accarding to Sec. 78-1631 through <br /> 78-1b40 and Sec. 82-300 of the Orono Municipal Code. According to the applicable City of <br /> Orono Municipal Code, "the devetoper shall follow the steps outlined...as part of the <br /> development review process." This application follows steps reyuired by the Conservation <br /> Design Ordinance. <br /> II. Application Requirements and Procedures <br /> The following information addresses Sec. 78-1b34 Application Requirements and Procedures. <br /> 1) Review and res,pond to Goals and Policies for Environmental Protection and Natura( <br /> Resource Mana e�ent. <br /> The project is consistent with applicable Errvironmental Protection Goals in the Orono <br /> Community Management Plan. These goals include: <br /> • Preservation of marshlands, wetlands and natural drainage systems <br /> � Manage surface water to protect the City from flooding and pollutian <br /> � Preserve native woodlattds when possible <br /> � Protect and preserve natural habitats <br /> � Protect land from soil erosion <br /> The project is consistent with applicable Policies for Natural Resource Management in <br /> the Orono Community Management Plan. Relevant policies include: <br /> • Natural drai»ageways are utilized when feasible over storm sewers <br /> • Wetlands and marshlarui will be pratected and preserved <br /> • Protection of wetlands includes protection of adjacent upland buffers <br /> � Natural resource irivestigation included as part of this development proposal <br /> � On-site water retention facilities are i�ecluded as part of development plan <br /> • Erosion control plans arre included as part of developmertt plan <br /> • Erasion control BMPs are applied to all land alteration pro,jects <br /> • The development plan adheres to Conservation Design principles <br /> 2 <br />
