• <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR NOVEMBER 22, 1999 <br />(Mayor /Council Report, Continued) <br />Mayor Jabbour suggested that the City Administrator obtain a copy of the ordinance for <br />distribution to the City Council. <br />Sansevere commented that he would be in favor of adopting some type of administrative <br />approval for some of the applications that appear before the Planning Commission. <br />Mayor Jabbour stated that since the public hearing is held at the Planning Commission level, <br />it is necessary to hear the applications. Jabbour commented that this issue has been reviewed <br />in the past. <br />Stoddard stated that the Planning Commission is interested in looking at other communities <br />who have a consent agenda for the Planning Commission to see if a similar one could be <br />adopted in Orono. Stoddard indicated that they would like to eliminate some of the easier <br />applications, if possible, in an effort to reduce the amount of time spent at the meeting. <br />Sansevere requested that City Administrator take this item under consideration. <br />• Gaffron stated that he would be willing to identify a list of items that could be dealt with by <br />City Staff, noting that some changes to the City Codes may be necessary. <br />Mayor Jabbour commented that he is comfortable with the present City Staff and would be <br />willing to pursue this, noting that this item may need to be revisited periodically if City Staff <br />changes. Jabbour suggested that the City Administrator could also review those items. <br />Flint commented that he has confidence in the present City Staff and Planning Commission <br />which enables the City Council to place a large number of items on the consent agenda. <br />Gaffron indicated he would be willing to look at this issue after he has completed reviewing <br />the City's Comprehensive Plan. <br />Moorse suggested that this item could be reviewed by the City Council on an annual basis. <br />Sansevere commended the Planning Commission for their fine efforts and input on the various <br />applications. <br />Mayor Jabbour suggested that the Applicants be informed that they should attempt to have <br />their application comply as much as possible before it is brought before the Planning <br />Commission to eliminate the need for them to reappear before the Planning Commission. <br />n <br />LJ <br />
