s <br />R <br />IV0.�,. <br />}z <br />\kESH0 <br />CITY of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION INDICATING SUPPORT FOR A <br />COMPREHENSIVE PUBLIC ACCESS PLAN FOR LAKE MINNETONKA <br />WHEREAS, in 1983 and 1986 Citizen Task Forces determined <br />the need for additional reliable car and trailer parking spaces <br />on Lake.Minnetonka to support public access, and <br />WHEREAS, the first step in reaching the car/trailer <br />parking space goal for Lake Minnetonka is to develop a <br />comprehensive plan for the siting of accesses and parking spaces <br />around the lake, and <br />WHEREAS, it is very important that the comprehensive <br />plan be developed through a Task Force process which includes <br />representatives from the 14 lakeshore cities, the LMLOA and <br />interested citizens. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Orono City Council <br />as follows: <br />1. The City Council supports the Task Force effort to <br />develop a comprehensive plan for the provision of <br />700 reliable car/trailer parking spaces around Lake <br />Minnetonka. <br />2. The initial efforts of the Task Force should focus <br />on Zone #1 including a determination of the number <br />existing reliable parking spaces and a determination <br />of the most suitable site for additional parking <br />spaces. <br />3. Council supports efforts to obtain funding through a <br />combination of sources to implement the <br />comprehensive plan for the provision of 700 <br />car/trailer parking spaces. <br />4. The City Council opposes the DNR's purchase of the <br />Straley property on Maxwell Bay. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, <br />Minnesota at a regular meeting held January 27, 1992. <br />W-1 ATTER: Barbara'A.
