DUNDAS SERIES <br /> The Dundas series consists of deep somewhat poorly drained soils that formed in loamy calcareous glacial <br /> till on glacial moraines. These soils have moderately slow permeability. Their slopes range from 0 to 2 <br /> percent. Mean annual precipitation is about 29 inches and mean annual temperature is about 48 degrees F. <br /> TAXONOMIC CLASS: Fine-loamy, mixed, superactive, mesic Mollic Endoaqualfs <br /> TYPICAL PEDON: Dundas silt loam with a slightly convex slope of 1 percent on a <br /> ground moraine in a cultivated field. (Colors are for moist soil unless otherwise noted.) <br /> Ap--O to 7 inches; very dark gray (lOYR 3/1) silt loam, gray (lOYR 5/10) dry; weak fine <br /> and medium subangular blocky structure; friable; about 2 percent coarse fragments; <br /> neutral; abrupt smooth boundary. (6 to 10 inches thick) <br /> Al2--7 to 9 inches; very dark gray (lOYR 3/1) silt loam, gray (lOYR 5/1) dry; weak fine <br /> granular structure; friable; about 2 percent coarse fragments; slightly acid; abrupt wavy <br /> boundary. (0 to 3 inches thick) <br /> A2--9 to 15 inches; dark gray (lOYR 4/1) loam, dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) faces of <br /> peds, light gray (lOYR 6/1) dry and rubbed; moderate fine and medium subangular <br /> blocky structure with a tendency toward platy; friable; about 5 percent coarse fragments; <br /> strongly acid; clear wavy boundary.
