MINUTES OF THE
ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Monday, June 12, 2006
7:00 o'clock p.m.
(9. 06 -3201 DAVID CARLSON OF WILSON MANA GEMENT FOR CHARLIE THOMPSON,
875 WAYZATA BOULEVARD WEST, Continued)
White stated this site is a challenge to develop given the two heavily traveled roads and the surrounding
density. White stated he has a difficult time envisioning single - family housing in this area and that
changing the comprehensive plan in this area would have less impact than other areas of the city. White
inquired how, the drainage would be handled on the site.
Johnston stated some retaining walls would be necessary and that there would also be a slight swale.
Sansevere stated in his view the units should conform to the wetland buffer.
Carlson stated if one of the two units were eliminated, it would meet the wetland buffer, but that he
would prefer to retain both units to keep the visual appeal.
Carlson noted they need four votes to change the comprehensive plan.
McMillan stated she is not in support of changing the Comprehensive Plan due to the amount of density
being proposed. McMillan reiterated she would be agreeable to one acre zoning for this site.
Johnston inquired if Commissioner McMillan had a number in mind for the units.
McMillan commented there are a number of pockets throughout the City that are one -acre and that she
would like to stay with that type of density. Is
Johnston stated if the one unit were eliminated, the density would be 1.7 units per acre or .06 units per
acre.
McMillan indicated she would like to stay with the zoning categories that the City currently has.
Sansevere moved, Murphy seconded, to table Application #06 -3201, David Carlson of Wilson
Management for Charlie Thompson, 875 Wayzata Boulevard West — Comprehensive Plan
Amendment.
