MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, February 13, 2006 • <br />7:00 o'clock p.m. <br />5. #05 -3146 MARK AND PAMELA PALM, 1447 PARK DRIVE — VARIANCE <br />Mark Palm, Applicant, was present. <br />Gaffron stated the applicant is requesting a number of variances to replace an existing detached garage. <br />The applicant had originally received approval for variances on a slightly different proposal and as part of <br />this application they are now requesting the following variances: <br />Hardcover variance to permit 34.51 percent hardcover within the 75' -250' zone where 25 percent <br />is nonnally allowed and 38 percent currently exists. <br />2. Hardcover variance to peinlit 57 percent hardcover within the 250 -500' zone where 30 percent is <br />normally allowed and 49.5 percent currently exists. <br />The Planning Commission recommended denial of the variances as requested but recommended approval <br />of the variances only to the extent of the prior approval of July 2002. The prior approval included <br />limiting the size of the garage to 22' by 34', a 5 -foot setback, and hardcover not to exceed 34.1 percent in <br />the 75 -250' zone, not to exceed 45.86 percent in the 250 -500' zone. <br />Staff recommends approval of the application per the Planning Commission's recommendation. Gaffron <br />noted the final building plans and drainage and grading plans have to be submitted. is <br />White inquired how long it would be before the applicant would be able to submit the required <br />documents. <br />Palm stated the water issues from the adjoining property have delayed his project and that he has not had <br />formal plans drawn up. Palm indicated he should be able to submit the plans in the near future. <br />Gaffron noted the City Engineer would also need to review the grading and drainage plans. <br />White stated as soon as the formal plans are submitted and reviewed by Staff and the City Engineer, this <br />item would be placed on the City Council agenda. <br />Murphy moved, Sansevere seconded, to table Application #05 -3146, Mark and Pamela Palm, <br />1447 Park Drive, to allow the applicant time to submit the required documentation. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />• <br />PAGE 6 of 25 <br />
