I MINUTES OF THE ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday, November 14, 2005 7:00 o'clock p.m. ( #05 -3142 Chapman, Continued) Murphy stated his main concern dealt with the sight lines across the street. Chapman stated he has spoken with that neighbor and that the neighbor is fine with the proposal. Murphy commented the lot is unique and that he is not opposed to the second recommendation of Staff of a 10' by 10'shed if the shed resembles the house. Murphy noted the lot to the west has a dock on it with a jet boat parked next to it. Chapman stated there is a 30 -foot driveway goingtown to the lake and there is an easement down to the water. Chapman indicated he did offer to buy the City's land in order to increase his acreage but was told that the City would not be interested in selling the corridor. Gaffron confirmed that the City is not interested i selling the 30 -foot corridor and that an outlot was created to the west as part of a subdivision a number of years ago. Sansevere moved to direct Staff to draft a resol lion approving the construction of a 10' by 12' foot shed, subject to the removal of the sidewalk and the placement of steppingstones, consistent with • recommendation number two outlined in Staff's' report. I Chapman inquired if steppingstones are used, would he then be permitted a 12' by 12' shed. Gundlach stated if steppingstones are used in places of the concrete sidewalk, there would be a net decrease in hardcover of 3.5 square feet if a 12' by 12' shed is constructed. Sansevere amended his motion to direct staff to! draft a resolution approving the construction of a 12' by 12' shed, subject to the removal of the sidewalk and the placement of steppingstones, consistent with recommendation number two outlined in Staffs report. Gundlach indicated the majority of the Planning Commission did not vote in favor of the shed but that the dissenting commissioner had suggested a 10' by 10' shed with the removal of the sidewalk and placement of steppingstones. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 1, Peterson Opposed. Peterson stated she has a problem with trading • 7` coverage for structural hardcover.
