MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, December 10, 2007 <br />7:00 o'clock p.m. <br />(Mayor /Council Report, Continued) <br />addition, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District will be dredging Swan Lake, located by Leaf Street, <br />as well as restoring a wetland located just south of Highway 12 and Lake Classen. <br />McMillan stated Dave Thill, Hennepin County Environmental Department, has done a natural resources <br />inventory for a number of cities in the metropolitan area and that he would like to present his findings <br />on Orono to the City. Corridors for wildlife and mapping of the area have been completed. McMillan <br />recommended he address the Council during a work session. <br />Murphy stated the City's recommendations on the roundabout near Wayzata Boulevard are receiving a <br />negative review at the State and that they will be discussing it on December 21. Murphy stated he has <br />some safety concerns regarding MnDOT's design but at the present time the likelihood Orono's plan <br />will be approved is not very good. <br />White noted on Friday, December 14, he would be meeting with Staff at the Navarre Fire Station with <br />representatives of Tonka Bay, Shorewood and Orono to discuss trail improvements along County Road <br />19 and that they are looking at submitting a funding application to Hennepin County for the project. <br />Moorse recommended the Council direct staff to draft a resolution in support of the project. <br />• <br />White noted he would be sleeping out with Dick Kroeger at the Navarre Fire Station this Triday, as .part <br />of the fundraising effort to fight homelessness. <br />5. #07 -3323 STRUCTURES UNLIMITED ON BEHALF OF JUDSON AND ALEYA • <br />CHAMPLIN, 210 BIG ISLAND — VARIANCES — RESOLUTION NO. 5701, CONTINUED <br />Bremer stated she failed to note that she would be abstaining on Item No. 5. Bremer noted she has <br />abstained from previous discussions regarding this application. <br />Bremer moved, Rahn seconded, to reopen Item No. 5 and to rescind the prior motion approving <br />the resolution. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />McMillan moved, Rahn seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5701, a Resolution Granting <br />Variances for the property located at 210 Big Island. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0, Bremer Abstained. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT <br />Kellogg stated he had nothing to report. <br />Murphy acknowledged that Loren Fritz is in the back of the room and that there are issues with his <br />property. <br />Moorse stated Gaffron and Kellogg have been working together to compile the necessary information <br />and that their findings would be brought before the Council. <br />Murphy asked who the contact person would be on this. <br />Gaffron indicated he is. <br />PAGE 12 <br />• <br />
