The historic <br /> school house environment is integral to the success of the school's program <br /> and is one of the key reasons parents enroll their children. <br /> An addition is planned to compliment the character of the 1892 building, <br /> while providing needed office, program resource and bathroom space. The <br /> proposed addition is onto the back of the building, as wide as the current <br /> structure and projecting approximately 30' t�wards the back of the lot line. <br /> The current zoning codes were put into place after the building was built, <br /> and the width of the proposed addition is outside of the street setback by <br /> approximately 8' and the side yard setback by approximately 3'. The <br /> variance is requested in order to maintain the character of the building and <br /> build an addition that will be aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding <br /> neighbors. <br /> The proposed addition would be one story and a basement, with a deck <br /> � over a flat roof. The deck and exterior stairs would become the fire escape <br /> for the second floor.
