Peterson commended the <br />Police Department for their efforts in developing this program. <br />PUBLIC SERVICE DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />*8. PURCHASE OF BRUSH CHIPPER <br />Sansevere moved, White seconded, to approve the purchase of a Public Works replacement <br />brush chipper from Vermeer Sales & Service, Burnsville, Minnesota, at a total <br />cost of $20,460, to be funded from the year 2004 Improvement and Equipment Outlay Fund <br />Budget. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />*9. REQUEST FOR FINAL PAYMENT — STUBBS BAY PROJECT <br />Sansevere moved, White seconded, to approve Request for Final Payment, Stubbs Bay/ <br />Watertown Road Erosion Project, to Minnesota Native Landscapes, Inc., in the amount of <br />• $3,168.35. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />RECOGNITION <br />2. JEANNE MABUSTH — RESOLUTION <br />• <br />Peterson moved, White seconded, to table the Resolution of Appreciation to Jeanne Mabusth. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />10. ADOPT PRELIMINARY 2005 TAX LEVY AND BUDGET — RESOLUTION <br />NO. 5227 AND NO. 5228 <br />Moorse stated the Council is required to certify the City's preliminary tax levy to the County by <br />September 15. Moorse indicated once the preliminary tax levy is certified, that levy is reflected in <br />the truth -in- taxation statements sent out by the county. Moorse noted the truth -in- taxation hearing <br />has been scheduled for December 6, with the final levy adoption hearing being scheduled for <br />December 13. <br />Moorse stated based on the proposed budget and tax levy, and the substantial increase in the City's <br />tax capacity, the City's share of the property tax bill for Orono property owners will only increase by <br />PAGE 15 <br />
