Secti4� 0720 - Building Insulation & Air/Va�or Barrier <br /> 1.1 Sco�e - Building insulation - Owens-Corning glass fiber unfaced batts or <br /> blankets as noted on drawings, 6", R-21 typical @ walls; 12", R-40 @ roof; fill <br /> voids at rim joists w/ foil back, stapled; R-38 at vaulted ceilings, 10 1/4" thick, <br /> w/ R-5 rigid insul. below as per Energy Code. <br /> 1. Perimeter insulation - Dow Chemical Styrofoam, t & g, 2" thk., R-10; or <br /> 1/1/2" Thermax as noted in Keynotes. <br /> 2. Air/vapor barrier - shall be continuous seal on the inside of all insulated <br /> exterior walls & ceiling, a 6 mil polyethylene sheet plastic w/ all edges & <br /> over laps to be sealed w/ compatible acoustical sealant or laps sealed w/ <br /> polyethylene tape and/or 3M Polyfilm Adhesive. Seal all openings in <br /> walls & ceiling including window/door, outlets, light boxes, vents, etc. to <br /> prevent air leakage. <br /> 3. Air infiltration & water barrier - see Keynotes, apply material over <br /> sheathing & above soffits. <br /> 4. Air barrier at rim joists & base plates - Provide closed cell foam gasket or <br /> plate fiberglass insulation sealer as per Energy Code. <br /> Section 0790 - Sealants <br /> 1.1 Sco,�e - Work includes all caulking & sealant work required for overall <br /> project & as noted in drawings. Work to be performed in accordance w/ <br /> manuf. recomm. standards including appropriate weather conditions. <br /> Sealants to be guaranteed for 2 year against failure. Non-sag polyurethane sealant - two or three part elastomeric sealant, <br /> complying w/ FS TT-S-00227, Class A, Type 2 (non-sag), Tremco Dymeric <br /> or Sonneborn Sonolastic NP II. (Alternate for residential use to be Allpro <br /> Gold, high performance 50 yr. durability, paintable or not as req. for <br /> finishes, complies w/ FS TT - S - 00230C, Type 2, Class B & ASTM spec. <br /> C-920). Use for all exterior vertical surface joints. <br /> 2. Acrylic-Latex Sealant, Latex-rubber-modified, acrylic-emulsion-polymer <br /> sealant compound; permanently flexible, non-staining & non-bleeding; <br /> Pecora AC-20 Acrylic Latex Sonneborn Sonolac, or Standard Drywall <br /> Acrylicalk. Use for all interior vertical surface joints except in 'wet' areas <br /> & acoustical seal. <br /> 3. Polyisobutylene Mastic Sealant - either liquid or preformed ribbon (coiled <br /> w/ release paper) or polyisobutylene-based mastic, non-drying, non- <br /> skinning, non-hardening, non-migrating; Pecora BA - 98 Acoustical <br /> Sealant, or Tremco Acoustical Sealant. Use for air/vapor barrier joints at <br /> interior of exterior walls & as noted. <br /> 4. Interior Silicone Rubber Sealant - Silicone rubber-based, one-part, non-sag, <br /> 24 <br />
