The trusses were modified at the bearing walls
to insert new wood headers up "flush"within the trusses. In doing so, the
trusses chords and web were cut and then re-attached to the new headers.
The floor trusses aze 18"deep. These trusses were modifted by removing the
vertical end members of the truss to instatl the LVL headers. The trusses were
then reinfrced with a double vertical 2 x 4 placed just inside the LVL hader
and a flat 2 x 4 block on top of tEte bottom chord of the truss. In additiorto
that framing a 3/0"plywood gusset was stapled to the side of the tiuss at the
ends. The gussets measure 18"x 18" in size_ The trusses are also attached to
the LVL header with steel strap hangers.
, At the roof, the trusses were modified in a similar manner by cutting and
removing a portion of the bottom chord. The trusses were then reinforced by
adding verticai 2 x 4 block to connect the bottom chords to the other truss
members. The bearing points of the trusses were reinforced by adding
plywood gussets to one side of the trusses and attaching the hvsses to the
supporting LVL headers with face mounted metal hanger.
Based on my observations and calculations I have conclded that the trusses,
as rnodified, are structurally adequate and tivill support the required
superimposed live loads and dead loads. If you have any questions please feel
free to call me.
Sincerely:
J d K. ars n,P.E.
S ctural nineer
innesota Reg.No. 15847
Cc: Mr, Lyle Oman, City of Omno(fac)
Mr.Tom Radke(fax)
2452761t1
jkl
