RESOLIITION OF CONGRATIJLATIONS f <br /> - � <br /> WHEREAS, Greg LeMond is an Orono resident who has <br /> distinguished himself through his athletic pursuits; and <br /> WHSREAS, Greg LeMond has won the Tour de France Bicycle <br /> Race on July 23, 1989; and <br /> WHEREAS, this win was done by overcoming a 50 second <br /> lead held by his competitor, to win by 8 seconds in a 15 mile - <br /> stretch; and <br /> WHEREAS, this herculean effort to win was done following � <br /> three weeks of racing covering over 2, 000 miles; and � <br /> WHEREAS, this win represented a come back from a near <br /> fatal hunting accident for a second win after his 1986 win of the <br /> � Tour; and <br /> WHEREAS, this win was most notable for an American in <br /> the Bi-Centennial year of the French Revolution. � <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono ; <br /> takes this opportunity to adopt this resolution of recognition <br /> for someone who has overcome almost fatal injuries to reach the <br /> pinnacles of athletic ability in his chosen sport. ` <br /> FIIRTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono extend its <br /> congratulations for this fantastic _effort. . <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, � <br /> Minnesota at a regular meeting held this 24th day of July, 1989. <br /> , � <br /> l � � <br /> ATT ST: Edward J.
