MODERN CONSTRUCTION OF MINNESOTA, NC. RESOURCE S FIELD REVIEWS
Resource Review
The following resources were reviewed to supplement the wetland field delineation:
National Wetlands Inventory:
The National Wetlands Inventory (AppendixA. Figure 2) identifies a PSS1/EM1Cd/ABG wetland complex
within the project area.
USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service Soil Survey:
The Soil Survey of Hennepin County, MN (Appendix A. Figure 3) identifies Muskego hydric soil within the
project area.
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Public Water Inventory:
The MN DNR PWI for Hennepin County, MN (Appendix A. Figure 4) does not identify any public waters
within the project area. Lake Minnetonka - Stubbs Bay is located southeast of the project area.
Antecedent Precipitation Data:
An analysis of the University of Minnesota Climatology Working Group's 30 day rolling total precipitation
data for the previous three months (Appendix D) indicates that precipitation totals for previous weeks were
below average, but trending towards the normal monthly range for this project area (precipitation data was
not available for April 1 through April 13). Hydrologic conditions were suitable for completing an accurate
wetland determination and boundary delineation.
Field Review
Wetland 1: Wetland 1 is a Type 2/3, PEMB/Cd, fresh wet meadow/shallow marsh wetland. The wetland
vegetation is dominated by reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea). The underlying soils are mapped as
Hamel loam, on the edge of Muskego muck. The investigated soil profile meets the depleted below dark
surface (A11) hydric soil indicator. Hydrology indicators observed include saturation at 10 inches (A3),
geomorphic position (D2), and the FAC-Neutral Test. The wetland is part of a large complex that extends
offsite and appears to drain into Stubbs Bay(Lake Minnetonka).
The upland buffer surrounding the wetland is primarily vegetated with buckthorn(Rhamnus cathartica). Soils
are dark to light brown with redox concentrations starting at 11 inches; no hydric soil indicators were met.
Slight slopes form the transition into the wetland.
WETLAND ASSESSMENT
3960 BAYSIDE ROAD
ORONo, MN
APRIL 2016
