MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, July 22, 2002 • <br />6:30 o'clock p.m. <br />L Planning Commission Interviews - Continued <br />Hannaford indicated that he would like to give back to the community. We live here and want to <br />see the quality of our community improve. <br />Sansevere asked what he liked most, or least, about the course that Orono was taking. <br />Hannaford stated that he is very open minded and that his interest lies most in preserving a <br />community with great residential and outdoor qualities. <br />Murphy asked what quality of life means to him. <br />Hannaford indicated that he would not have time to answer the question adequately, however, in <br />his view, quality of life relates to living near the lake and using that resource, living near <br />downtown, and wanting to preserve these things as the community grows and traffic impacts the <br />area. <br />Murphy agreed traffic to be an issue and asked what he would do about Highway 15. <br />Hannaford acknowledged that there is too much traffic there, without a definite answer, he might • <br />try to divert it. <br />With regard to density and zoning, Murphy asked how he would like to see Orono develop over <br />the next 10 -15 years. <br />Hannaford stated he would like to see it develop slowly. <br />Sansevere asked if a position on the Park Commission opened and this one did not work out, <br />would he have interest in that. <br />Hannaford stated that he would be willing to sit on the Park Commission. <br />Rick Windenburg, Applicant - <br />Having expressed interest on serving once before, Sansevere asked why the applicant had done <br />so once again. <br />Windenburg stated that he would like to become more involved in the community and monitor <br />the community expansion as well. <br />Sansevere asked what he liked and disliked about Orono. <br />PAGE 4 of 35 <br />0 <br />
