CITY OF ORONO, CITY CODE SECTIONS 78-1466 AND 78-1468 REVISIONS TO <br /> THE SIGN ORDINANCE —Continued) <br /> Chair Mabusth corrected the proposed amendment language to reflect accurate section numbers, from <br /> (9) and (10) to (10) and(11). <br /> Berg moved, Bremer seconded, to approve Application #04-3005,Zoning Code Revision, City <br /> Code Sections 78-1466 and 78-1468, adding definitions for pylon and monument signs and <br /> amending language for signs allowed within the Business and Industrial District, including a <br /> diagram or photo of sign parts, as follows: <br /> Section 1: Municipal Zoning Code Section 78-1466 is hereby revised as follows: <br /> (9) Pylon Sign. A sign supported by a post or posts so that the sign and supports are <br /> finished to grade by encasing the posts in a material consistent with the sign and <br /> where the base width dimension is a minimum of 10% up to and including 50% <br /> of the greatest width of the sign. <br /> (10) Monument Signs. One monument sign, limited to two (2) faces is allowed per <br /> frontage per property, with a maximum of two (2). The areas of sign base, the <br /> supporting background structure, and the sign copy shall be combined for <br /> determining the total square footage and the height of the monument sign. <br /> a. The total allowable square footage shall not exceed 100 square feet per side. <br /> The base and supporting material shall constitute at least 25 percent of the <br /> total square footage. <br /> b. The base width dimension is 50% or more of the greatest width of the sign. <br /> c. The sign copy area shall have a minimum clearance of 20 inches above <br /> ground level. <br /> d. The sign copy area shall be completely enclosed within the monument <br /> materials. <br /> e. No portion of the sign or sign structure shall exceed 10 feet above ground <br /> level. <br /> f. The monument sign base shall be constructed of materials similar in <br /> appearance to those of the principal structure and shall consist of brick., <br /> natural stone, stucco, textured cast stone, or integrally colored concrete <br /> masonry units. The structure surrounding the face of the sign from the base <br /> to the top of the sign must be solid, continuous, and consist of the base <br /> materials or complementary materials that match the appearance and color <br /> of the principal building. <br /> g. The 200 square feet of ground area around the base of the monument sign <br /> shall be landscaped with shrubs or perennials. <br /> Section 2: Municipal Zoning Code Section 78-1468 is hereby revised as follows: <br /> Page 45 of 49 <br />
