TRUST,3425 <br /> SHORELINE DRIVE, CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AND COMMERCIAL SITE <br /> PLAN REVIEW—Continued) <br /> Bertagnoli interjected that the Navarre area provides family restaurants via Culvers, the <br /> coffee shop, and D'Vinci's. <br /> Fritzler asked if the upper lot would be paved. <br /> Keaveny stated that this could be done. <br /> Acting Chair Mabusth stated that any approval would include upgrades and asked how the <br /> City would deal with the applicant's desire to upgrade and renovate the site. <br /> Keaveny indicated that he would wish to add retaining walls,plus additional green space <br /> along Shoreline Drive. <br /> Acting Chair Mabusth asked if the City Engineer had seen the proposed parking plan. <br /> Gundlach stated that the City Engineer felt the plan was adequate with paving and striping. <br /> Keaveny reiterated that the retaining walls would be repaired, more green space could be <br /> provided, and the brick work would be repaired and matched to the front of the building. <br /> Bremer asked what the proposed hours of operation would be. <br /> Ode stated that, generally, the hours would run until midnight or bar time of 1:00 AM. <br /> Acting Chair Mabusth asked how the City doles out liquor licenses. <br /> Gaffron stated that the City has the ability to dole out 7 licenses in the Orono area; <br /> however, to date has only one. He indicated that Mr. Ode was currently going through the <br /> review process of obtaining a liquor license. Gaffron stated that, since the application is a <br /> CUP and backs up to residential neighborhood, the Commission can put reasonable <br /> standards on the application. <br /> While she was sympathetic to the traffic concerns on Kelly Avenue, Bremer was also <br /> concerned about the proposed re-location of the bus shelter at Kelly and County Road 15, <br /> closer to the dangerous intersection. <br /> Gaffron stated that the police department has been looking into moving the crosswalk, and <br /> felt this location might be a safer alternative for the shelter. He indicated that, new <br /> discussion of this subject this evening, had caused him to think twice about moving the <br /> crosswalk to Kelly Avenue. <br /> PAGE 48 of 53 <br />
