•
ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2001
City Administrator's Report and City Attorney's Report appear after Licenses.
11. LICENSES
Special Event
Applicant:
Lake Country Builders, Inc.
Event:
Remodelers Showcase
Location:
2601 West Lafayette Road
Date:
October 5, 6, 7, 2001
Time:
Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Moorse stated that the concern was about the availability of off -site parking for the
showcase because the road is too narrow for street parking. The applicants suggested using
the Navarre public parking lot with a shuttle service.
The applicant stated that the western suburbs don't get as much traffic as the Edina area.
• He expected 8 - 10 cars would be present at any one time. They would put no parking
signs along County Road 19 and Lafayette Road. When the driveway is full, they
proposed directing people to the Navarre lot. They would keep a van at both the lot and
the house to shuttle people back and forth. He assured the Council that they are
professionals who have been in business for 24 years and were eager to work with the City
r\
U
Nygard asked that they clean up the parking lot when they finish.
Moorse questioned if they would have room in the Navarre lot on Friday with the park and
ride use. The applicant stated that Friday would be the slowest day, and they did not
expect to use the lot at all that day. He also stated they would send out a letter to neighbors
and would have a staff person working as security.
White moved, and Flint seconded, to approve the special event permit for the
Remodelers Showcase.
Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0.
11
