MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 2001 <br />(Recognition of Police Chief Gary Cheswick, Continued) • <br />Mayor Peterson presented Cheswick with a plaque acknowledging his dedicated service to <br />the City of Orono. <br />Cheswick stated he has enjoyed working with the City of Orono. <br />Gabriel Jabbour, Former Mayor, thanked Cheswick for his service to the community. <br />Mayor Peterson noted a reception will be held in Chief Cheswick's honor on Wednesday, <br />January 31,2001 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers. <br />White moved, Peterson seconded, to approve and adopt RESOLUTION NO. 4599, <br />a Resolution Recognizing Chief Gary Cheswick for his Thirty-two Years of Dedicated <br />Service to the City as a Member of the Orono Police Department. <br />VOTE: Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />PARK COMMISSION COMMENTS — Debora Halvorson <br />Halvorson commented the Park Commission is continuing to review the lake access points <br />around Lake Minnetonka, with an updated presentation to be given at either the April or May <br />meeting of the Park Commission. Halvorson suggested a work session with the Council be <br />scheduled to discuss this matter. • <br />Halvorson stated the Park Commissioners will be reviewing their assigned parks this spring, <br />and welcomed any comments the City Council members and local residents may have regarding <br />improvements to the various parks. ' <br />Halvorson, on behalf of the Park Commission, thanked the residents of Orono for their generous <br />donations of land to the City over the past year. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />None <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Mayor Peterson stated the meeting with the Fire Department's Building Committee has been <br />postponed due to the information to be reviewed not being available and has been rescheduled <br />for February 5'. <br />Peterson welcomed the City's new on -site septic system manager Matthew Bolterman. <br />Peterson thanked Heidi Sturman for the time she spent with the City as Administrative • <br />Support Assistant. <br />Page 2 <br />
