ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR APRIL 24, 2000 <br />( #2567 Walfred Properties, Continued) <br />Mavor Jabbour stated there could just be pedestrian access from the rear parking lot to the street <br />with no public trail. <br />Kelley stated he has concerns that the children will tend to cut across the parking lot even with <br />the trail. <br />Reinen indicated they will need to have the area surveyed to see where the trail can be located, <br />noting they would like to preserve the trees as well. Reinen stated the retaining wall will need to <br />be brought forward. <br />Kelley inquired about the six foot cedar fence in the back. <br />Reinen stated it is located five feet from the property line and will have a row of arborvitae trees <br />planted in front of it. <br />Kelley inquired about the lighting at the rear of the building. <br />Reinen stated they will be installing shielded lighting, with one light fixture being located at the <br />rear of the building to light the car path and a light fixture associated with the trash enclosure, <br />which is separated from the building itself. • <br />Kelley stated he would like to see the monument sign constructed out of the same materials as <br />the building. <br />Reinen stated they will use compatible material for the monument sign, noting the sign will not be <br />illuminated if the store is not open. <br />Mayor Jabbour thanked the developer for working with the City on this project. <br />Kelley moved, Flint seconded, to approve the Commercial Site Plan Granting Variances <br />to Hardcover and Conditional Use Permits and to allow the Issuance of a Building Permit to <br />Walfred Properties for the Property Located at 2380 Shadywood Road to permit the construction <br />of a Snyder Drugstore, subject to modification, review and approval of the pedestrian trail by City <br />Staff, review and approval by City Staff of the lighting and landscaping plan; and to Approve <br />Vacating an Unimproved Lane Within the Plats of "Wiley's Navarre Addition ", "Townsite of <br />Langdon Park" and "Lafayette Ridge" in the City of Orono, Hennepin County, Minnesota. <br />Weinberger indicated the issues that still need to be resolved are identified in the resolution. <br />VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />H <br />
