• <br />• <br />• <br />MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />HELD FEBRUARY 18, 1992 <br />( #2) #1711 EDWIN & TRACEE GIBBS, <br />1135 LOMA LINDA AVENUE - <br />VARIANCE - PUBLIC HEARING 7:00 - 7:05 P.M. <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mailing was noted. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gibbs were present for this application. <br />Mabusth explained this application is a request for a variance to <br />p I ace a detached garage i n f ront of the f ront I i ne of the pr i nc i pa I <br />residence. She noted the garage will meet the street setback <br />required and hardcover is not an issue. <br />Mrs. Gibbs stated the driveway is 23' wide and does not extend to <br />the retaining wall. <br />Chair Kelley asked why they were not proposing an attached garage. <br />Mrs. Gibbs noted they already have a tuck -under garage, which will <br />be changed to a bedroom. <br />Mr. Gibbs noted the house will be warmer without a tuck -under <br />garage. <br />Chair Kelley asked about neighbors' comments. <br />Mrs. Gibbs stated the neighbors were very supportive. <br />Chair Kelley asked if a backup apron will be provided. <br />Mrs. Gibbs noted they wi I I be backing out onto the street, the same <br />as they are currently doing. <br />It was moved by Johnson, seconded by Schroeder, to recommend <br />approval of Application #1711 for Edwin and Tracee Gibbs of 1135 <br />Loma Linda Avenue for a variance to allow construction of the <br />detached garage in front of the front line of the principal <br />structure, based upon hardships expressed by applicants.
