MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> Monday, November 17, 2003 <br /> 6:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> (#12) #03-2962 ROBERT AND JOANNE SWITZ, 1740 SHADYWOOD ROAD, <br /> VARIANCE, Continued <br /> Waataja stated that if the home maxed out its 15% structural coverage allowance, it would <br /> still exceed 39%hardcover after adding in the driveway and sidewalks. <br /> Gaffron explained that the issue then becomes whether the applicant has the `right' to max <br /> out their 15% structural coverage allowance or needs to reduce their structural cover to fall <br /> within hardcover regulations. <br /> Although the Commission could supply the applicant with some guidelines, Hawn stated <br /> that she would need to see a new design which better meets the new construction <br /> standards. <br /> There were no public comments. <br /> Acting Chair Mabusth asked the applicant whether she wished to table or proceed to <br /> Council. <br /> Switz asked to proceed. <br /> Acting Chair Mabusth moved, Fritzler seconded, to recommend denial of Application <br /> #03-2962, Robert and Joanne Switz, 1740 Shadywood Road,based on the findings set <br /> forth by staff. VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br /> (#13)#03-2963 WJM PROPERTIES, LLC, 2605 WEST WAYZATA BOULEVARD, <br /> COMMERCIAL SITE PLAN REVIEW (10:40— 10:43 P.M.) <br /> Peter Johnson, applicant's representative, was present. <br /> Waataja explained that the applicant requests a commercial site plan review in order to <br /> expand the existing garage structure situated immediately south of the main facility. <br /> Waataja indicated that the applicant has proposed to construct a 20'X75' (1,500 s.£) <br /> addition to the existing garage structure on the property with three overhead doors and two <br /> steel access doors. <br /> Although she would recommend the Commission consider whether additional screening is <br /> necessary, Waataj a stated that staff would recommend approval of the plans as submitted. <br /> Acting Chair Mabusth stated that, having visited the site, she saw no need to add additional <br /> screening. <br /> There were no public comments. <br /> PAGE 33 of 41 <br />
