MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> Monday, September 15, 2003 <br /> 6:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> ROLL <br /> The Commission met on the above mentioned date with the following members present: <br /> Chair Sandra Smith, Commissioners David Rahn, J. Mark Fritzler, Jeanne Mabusth, <br /> Cynthia Bremer, Liz Hawn, and Stephanie Zugschwert. Representing staff were Planning <br /> Director Mike Gaffron, Planners Melanie Foth and Janice Waataja, Recorder Kristi <br /> Anderson and City Council liaison Jim White. <br /> Chair Smith called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> (#1)#03-2935 SCOTT AND KARA HUTTON, 1835 SHADYWOOD ROAD, <br /> VARIANCE <br /> Mabusth moved, Hawn seconded,to table Application #03-2935, Scott and Kara <br /> Hutton, 1835 Shadywood Road,to the October meeting at the request of staff. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 7, Nays 0. <br /> (#2) #03-2939 PETE AND MAXINE THORKELSON, 440 BIG ISLAND, <br /> CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br /> Mabusth moved, Hawn seconded, to recommend Approval of Application #03-2939, <br /> Pete and Maxine Thorkelson, 440 Big Island, a request for a Conditional Use Permit <br /> to allow septic system improvements in street right of way provided the following <br /> conditions are met: The applicant acknowledges that placement of septic system <br /> connection pipes within the right-of-way is at their own risk and the applicant shall, <br /> prior to placement of improvements within the right-of-way, execute a hold harmless <br /> agreement which releases, indemnifies and holds harmless the City and the public <br /> from any and all claims or causes of action arising out of the use or alteration of the <br /> platted right-of-way by applicant and their invitees. VOTE: Ayes 7, Nays 0. <br /> (#3) #03-2949 DOUG OLSON AND BARB BOWERS, 2601 WEST LAFAYETTE <br /> ROAD,VARIANCE <br /> Mabusth moved, Hawn seconded, to recommend Approval of Application #03-2949, <br /> Doug Olson and Barb Bowers, 2601 West Lafayette Road, granting an average <br /> lakeshore setback variance for construction of a 2nd story addition above existing <br /> living space on a home situated approximately 90' into the average lakeshore setback. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 7, Nays 0. <br /> PAGE 1 of 25 <br />
