153661v1 97 <br /> <br />(9)(8) The keeping of domestic animals for noncommercial purposes, including horses <br />for the use of the occupants of the premises. A minimum of one acre in aggregate, <br />exclusive of one acre for the principal building, must be available for each animal <br />unit, except as set forth in this subsection. A minimum of two acres of open <br />pasture must be available for a single horse, and one additional acre must be <br />available for each additional horse. When the horses are kept stabled and do not <br />require pasture for feed purposes, the minimum pasture requirement may be <br />adjusted at the discretion of the council. Such minimum pasture acreage shall not <br />include wetlands as defined in section 78-1602. Any person keeping such animals <br />must comply with the provisions of this Code.Private swimming pools, tennis <br />courts, and paddocks. <br /> <br />(10)(9)Stables and barns, private. The use of an accessory building for keeping animals <br />for noncommercial purposes, provided it is for the noncommercial use of the <br />property owner or resident and meets the available area standards outlined in <br />subsection (9) of this section. Further, no such structure shall be located less than <br />150 feet from the nearest adjacent residence and no closer than 75 feet from the <br />nearest lot line.Signs, as regulated in this chapter. <br /> <br />SECTION 23. The following language has been deleted and added to Section 78-417 <br />(Permitted Uses) of the Orono City Code: <br /> <br />Sec. 78-417. Permitted uses. <br /> <br /> Within any RR-1B one-family rural residential district, no land or structures shall be used <br />except for one or more of the following uses: <br /> <br />(1) One-family detached dwellingsCity-owned public service structures that have <br />been approved by the City Council after the required public hearings for public <br />improvement projects, provided that: <br /> <br />a. All buildings are located at least 50 feet from any adjacent property zoned <br />for residential use. <br /> <br />b. The architectural design of the structure is found to be compatible with the <br />surrounding area. <br /> <br />c. If the city proposes amendment to the approved design plans or the <br />placement of the structure, notice of the proposed changes shall be mailed <br />to all property owners within 350 feet of the parcel on which the structure <br />is to be located. If the proposed structure is to be located within a public <br />right-of-way, property owners within 350 feet of the structure shall be <br />mailed notice of the proposed changes.
