VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0.

LMCD REPORT

McDermott reported that the water level of Lake Minnetonka is up by approximately 18 inches as
compared to last year and the dam is still open.

The LMCD has held a couple of public forums recently regarding the zebra mussel problem. McDermott
noted that there were very few residents in attendance. The DNR advised the residents to inspect their
boats and remove any zebra mussels. The DNR has also found infestations in the upper lake recently. A
resident reported finding a large collection of zebra mussels on a boat lift around Brackett’s Point, which
would indicate that they have been here for a number of years. McDermott stated the boat inspection
program will continue next year.

Murphy commented that getting the residents to wash down their boats is an important part of the plan to
control the zebra mussels.

McDermott stated the DNR’s main concern now is preventing the zebra mussels from being spread to
other lakes around the state.

McMillan asked whether a wash station would be helpful.

Item #02 - CC Agenda - 09/27/2010
Approval of Council Minutes 09/13/2010 [Page 1 of 14]
