Some Demo LDFs may not be <br /> able to accept burnouts because of the potential for hazardous materials to be present. Tn addition <br /> burnouts pose a serious threat of smoldering or reigniting at the landfill. Check�vith the Demo <br /> LDF before brin�ing the material to the landfill <br /> Unacceptable Materials: <br /> ♦ infectious waste (needles, body parts, dressings, etc. from hospitals, mortuaries, nursing homes) <br /> ♦ untreated sesvage (se�vage sludge, sludge compost, and septic tank pumpings) <br /> ♦ street stiti•eepings (should be tested to determine if they are hazardous (TCLP)) <br /> ♦ tires (compaction difficulties, floating effect, and waste landfill space) <br /> ♦ major appliances (all hazardous materials must be removed including mercury, PCBs, and <br /> chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerant gas, commonly l:notivn by the trade name FreonO <br /> ♦ yard �vaste (creates leechate, gas, settlement problems, and `�•astes landfill space) <br /> ♦ household �vaste ♦ paint cans ♦ construction`��aste <br /> ♦ cardboard ♦ caulk tubes ♦ agricultural chemicals <br /> ♦ machinery or engine ♦ mattresses or ♦ treated lumber <br /> parts furniture <br /> ♦ railroad ties <br /> Some types of Industrial tiVaste may be accepted at a demo LDF depending on the individual <br /> landfill's permit.
