` Cit o� ORONO <br /> l �' <br /> • RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> � NO. 2246 <br /> • - • • <br /> CONGRATOLATIONS TO ELEANOR LAWLER PILLSBIIRY <br /> IN HONOR OF HER 108TH BIRTHDAY <br /> ' WHEREAS, Eleanor Lawler Pillsbury was born on August 31, <br /> 1887, predating the formation of the Orono Township by two years; <br /> and <br /> WHSREAS, Eleanor and John S. Pillsbury, Sr. were married <br /> in 1911 and shortly thereafter began spending summers on Lake <br /> Minnetonka; and <br /> WHEREAS, Eleanor and John S. Pillsbury, Sr. acquired the <br /> family home Southways, from the Dunwoody estate, and started the <br /> construction of Southways prior to World War I; and <br /> WHEREAS, this work was interrupted by World War I and . <br /> was completed shortly thereafter; and <br /> WAEREAS, upon completion of Southways the Pillsbury's <br /> • spent their summers during the 20's at Southways taking permanent <br /> residency in Southways in the early 30's; and <br /> � WHEREAS , Eleanor La�wler Pillsbury has been very <br /> prominent in the community throughout much of the existance of <br /> Orono Township and subsequently the Village and City of Orono; <br /> and <br /> ��THEREAS, Eleanor Lawler Pillsbury's children have <br /> contributed to the community , notably George as a State <br /> Senator , representing the Lake Minnetonka area and John, Jr., <br /> George and Granddaughter-in-law Kitty Crosby as long term members <br /> of the Orono School Board. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City <br /> Council congratulate Eleanor Lawler Pillsbury on the achievement <br />. of her 10f6th birthday.
