� - <br /> � Cit� o� ORONO . <br /> � <br /> • RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> � NO. 2244 <br /> • - • • <br /> A RESOLIITION RESTRICTING <br /> TRIICR TRAFFIC ON <br /> TOWNLINE ROAD <br /> WHER$AS, the City of Orono has amended Ordinance No. 7.10 <br /> entitled "Truck Route"; and <br /> HiHBRBAS, the amendment to the ordinance allows the City <br /> . Council to restrict truck traffic on certain City streets; and <br /> WHBREAS, City staff has developed criteria that would deter- <br /> mine that trucks on certain City s�reets should be restricted; and <br /> WHEREAS, the criteria for restricting truck traffic is as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. City street rural or urban design; <br /> 2. Speed limit is posted under 45 mph; � <br /> • 3. Alternate route is available; <br /> 4. Threat of damage to street as the street is not <br /> built to a design standard needed for continuous truck <br /> traffic use; <br /> 5. The residents have submitted a petition indicating <br /> that truck traffic is creating public nuisance; <br /> 6. City staff has determined that truck traffic is <br /> creating public nuisance/safety hazard; and <br />. WHEREAS, Townline Road in the City of Orono does qualify as <br /> a City street that meets the criteria developed by staff. <br /> WH$YtEAS, City staff has received complaints and a petition <br /> from property owners as to the nuisance because of continuous truck <br /> traffic; and <br /> WH�REAS, the speed limit on Townline Road is posted 40 mph; <br /> and <br /> WHSREAS, there is the potential for damage to the street if <br /> truck traffic continues; and <br /> • WHERLAS, there is an alternate route for trucks. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
