(Nova) at the above referenced site in order to confirm tank removal observations.
A Nova representative was on—site March 15, 1992 to collect a soil sample from the base of the
excavation at tte residence of Mrs. Oskie in Orono, Minnesota. A 3,000 gallon fuel oil tank had
teen removed by Mr. Ron Graves. The tank was observed to be in very good condition. No
vidence of a petroleum release was observed.
A soil sample was collected from the base of the excavation and screened for the presence of
organic vapors using a photoionization detector(PID) and the jar headspace test method. Organic --
vapors were not detected with the PID.
One soil sample was submitted to Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories on March 17, 1992 for
analysis of benzene, ethyl benzene, toluene, xylenes (BETX), and total petroleum hydrocazbons
(TP as fuel oil in accordance with Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) guidelines.
L.aboratory results indicate petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were not detected above the
method detection limits. A copy of the laboratory report is attached.
Based on ield observations and laboratory results, a petroleum release did not occur from the
fuel oil tank removed from the Oskie residence in Orono, Minnesota.
