See specific chapters for further detail as to plans and specifications <br /> where required. ; <br /> Statutory Authority: MS s 16.85 <br /> 1345.0130 SAFETY HAZARD. <br /> Where a safety hazard exists on a premise by reason of an existing <br /> installation or lack of proper equipment or material thereof, the owner or his <br /> agent shall be responsible for making such corrections as may be necessary to <br /> abate such hazard and bring the installation within the provisions of this code. <br /> Statutory Authority: MS s 16.85 <br /> 1345.0140 BOILER AND FURNACE EQUIPMENT ROOM SIZE. <br /> Boilers and furnaces shall not be installed in confined spaces such as alcoves <br /> or closets unless specifically approved for such installation and then only if <br /> installed in accordance with the approval. Boilers and furnaces shall be <br /> installed in rooms that are large in comparison to the size of the appliance and <br /> shall provide proper clearance for accessibility for servicing and maintaining such <br /> equipment. <br /> Boiler and furnace rooms in other than one- and two-family dwellings shall <br /> be such that they have an area of at least ten times the area occupied by the <br /> ' boiler and eight times the area occupied by the furnace. If additional appliances <br /> or equipment are to be located in the boiler or furnace room, additional area <br /> shall be provided equal to area occupied by such equipment plus required <br /> clearances. <br /> At least three feet clear space shall be provided in front of all zone valves, <br /> I controls, etc. for access and servicing. <br /> Statutory Authority: MS s 16.85 <br /> I LOAD CALCULATIONS <br /> I' 1345.0200 HEAT LOSS CALCULATION REQUIRED. <br /> Before designing a heating system, a heat loss calculation must be made of <br /> the maximum probable heat loss of each room or space to be heated, based on <br /> maintaining a selected indoor air temperature during periods of design outdoor <br /> weather conditions. These heat losses may be divided into groups as follows: <br /> � A. the transmission losses or heat transmitted through the confining <br /> i walls, floor, ceiling, glass, or other surfaces; <br /> B. the infiltration losses or heat required to warm outdoor air which <br /> leaks in through cracks and crevices around doors and windows, or through open <br /> j doors and windows, or heat required to warm outdoor air used for ventilation; <br /> j and <br /> � C. the design data and calculations for heating loads shall be in <br /> accordance with procedure outlined in ASHRAE Fundamentals and Equipment <br /> for the latest publication after acceptance of this code, or Manual J, Load <br /> Calculations, National Warm Air Heating and Air Conditioning Association. <br /> Statutory Aut6ority: MS s 16.85 <br /> , 1345.0210 DEFINITIONS. <br /> Subpart 1.
