SEARLE�S RVICE AWARD <br /> • � • • CONFERRL�D IIPON MAYOR MARY BUTLER <br /> � <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono has individuals who contribute <br /> outstanding service to the community, to help achieve basic goals that <br /> enhance and perpetuate the "quality of life" for the residents of <br /> Orono; ancl " <br /> WH]6REAS, Mary Butler has been active in the City of Orono for <br /> the past 16 years; and <br /> WHE REAS , Mary Butler in those 16 years has served as the <br /> City's r�ayor for four years, January 1, 1983 to December 31, 1986; a <br /> ' City Councilmember for 11 years from 1972 to 1982; prior to becoming <br /> , Mayor, serving 3 years as Acting Mayor; and served on the City's . <br /> Planning Commission for 1 year in 1971; and <br /> 6�HEREAS, during this time Mary Butler has been intricately <br /> inv olved in the fashioning of Orono to make it the outstanding <br /> community that it is today; and <br /> � WH�3R1?AS, she has served in other capacities representing the <br /> City in numerous organizations to which the City bel ongs; and <br /> [rTHEitEAS, through her tireless efforts in serving the City in <br /> her many capacities the City of Orono is a much better place because <br /> of those efforts; and <br /> WHEIt�3AS , the City �of Orono did establish the Robert L. <br /> Searles meritorious service award by Resolution #735 on December 13, <br /> 1976 as a method of recognizing citizen contribution of an outstanding <br /> nature. <br /> NOW, THE�FO�tE B�Z IT R�SOLVED that the Robert L. Sear les <br /> D7eritorious Service Award be conferred upon Mayor Mary Butler; and <br /> T�E�FO� BE IT FURTHEIt RESOLVED that the City Council of <br /> Orono and the entire community extends it's gratitude to P�ayor Butler <br /> for the many wonderful things she has done for the community and her <br /> , excellent work as Mayor. � <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota <br /> at its regularly held meeting February 9, 1987. <br /> • ATTE .
