Subd. 3. Access to data by individual. Upon request to a responsible authoriry,an individual shall be informed whether he is the subject of scored dara on individuais,and wherher i�is classified as public, priva�e or confcdendal. Upon tus funher requesc, an individual who is the subjecc of stored private or public dara on individuals shall be shown the data wichouc any charge to him and, if he desires, shall be informed of[he content and meaning of chat data. Afrer an individual has been shown�he priva�data and informed of ics meaning, the data need not be disclosed to him for six mon�hs thereafcer unless a dispute or acdon pursuan�to chis secdon is panding or addirional data on the individual has been collzcced or creaced. The responsible authoriry shall provide copies of the privace or public data upon requesc by the individual subjecc of�he data. The responsible authoriry may require[he requesring person to pay the accual coscs of making, cerafying, and compiling the copies. The responsible au[horiry saall comply immediacefy, if possible, wi�h any requesc made pursuant to chis subdivision, or wi�hin five days of the dace of che requesc,excluding Sacurdays,Sundays and legal holidays,iF immzdiace compliance is not possible. If he cannoc comply with the reques� wichin chat cime,he shail so inform the individual,and may have an addiaonal five days wichin which to comply wi�h[he request,exciuding Saturclays, Sundays and legal holidays. Subd.4. Procedure when data is not accurate or complete. An individual may contest the accuracy or compleceness of public or private data conceming himsetf. To exercise this rieht,an individuai shall nod"ry in wriang the responsible auchoriry describing the nature of the disagreement. The responsible aurhoriry shall wichin 30 days eicher: (a)correcc the data found to be inaccurate or incomplece and attempt to noafy past recipients of inaccurate or incomplete data, including recipiena named by the individual; or(b)noufy the individual that he believes che data to be correct. Data in dispuce shall be disclosed only if the individual's sc3tement of disagreement is included with the disclosed data. The decerminanon of the responsible aurhoriry may be appealed pursuanc to the provisions of[he adauniscraive procedure act reladn� to contested cases.
