Clt� o� ORONO <br /> • RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Q� <br /> � NO. 1972 <br /> • - • • <br /> A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br /> HAZARDOUS BIIILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAPID <br /> ' VETERAN'S CAMP - CABIIV #28 pEANIIT ROW AREA UTdITS A & B <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHERF.AS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp, c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> , 55155, has an interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> Island Veteran' s �Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, and legally described as follows: <br /> Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 • <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> • to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Cabin #28 Peanut Row � <br /> area Units A and B is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous <br /> conditions which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this <br /> property hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on <br /> the following findings: <br /> 1. � Foundation consists of concrete blocks and piers without <br /> � mortar joints and footings are not below frost line. <br /> 2. , Exterior walls rotting at bottom. <br /> . � � <br /> ; 3. Building has been vandalized. <br /> 4. Fire egress windows are not provided. � <br /> 5. Roof needs repairing. �. <br /> , <br /> 6. No stairs provided at main entrance. <br /> 7 . The surrounding area around the building contains high <br /> weeds and brush which creates a fire hazard. <br /> 8,. Building is in a state of deterioration and dilapidation, ' <br /> thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br /> Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br /> � Section 203. <br /> � 9 .
