< � ' <br /> Clt� o� ORONO <br /> • � R�SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> � - - ---_ ..._....�_ • ..._ NO.�_ 19 70_ - -- __ �_ _ .__ .___...._— <br /> � � � � <br /> A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMEiJT OF <br /> HAZARDOOS BDILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br /> VETERAN'S CAMP - CABIYJ #13 NORTH HILL AREA <br /> wHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> _ 55155, has an interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> _. _ Island Veteran' s Cam�, and legally described as follows : <br /> I�ot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 -�-� `�-"' " - <br /> WHF.RF.AS� the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly . <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> . to 463.261, hereby finds that�the above described Cabin #13 North Hill <br /> • area is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions <br /> which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property <br /> hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on the <br /> following findings: . <br /> l. Building footing and foundation consists of concrete <br /> . blocks without mortar joints. <br /> 2. ' Ceiling height is too low for habitable space. <br /> ,, 3: Wood is rotten around bottom edges of exterior walls. <br /> #t <br /> -�= 4. Windows do not meet fire egress requirements because of <br /> the screens and wood flaps which cover window. <br /> 5. Roof sags and is in disrepair. <br /> 6. � No sewer or water is available to the site. <br /> 7 . Fire alarms (smoke detectors ) are not provided. <br /> 8. Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a � <br /> potential fire hazard. . ' <br /> 9. The surrounding area around the building contains high <br /> weeds and brush which create a fire hazard. <br /> • 10. Buildingisin a state of deterioration and dilapidation, <br /> thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br /> Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br /> Section 203. <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
