r�` ` .,�. <br /> � � C�t� o� ORONO <br /> r :.= �,- . � <br /> ` , Q� , RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> � NO. 1969 <br /> � <br /> • - • • <br /> ; <br /> j A RESOLUTION ORDERING 1�BATEMENT OF <br /> HAZARDOUS BIIILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br /> VETERAN'S CAMP - CABIN �12 NORTH HIL� AREA <br /> � WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Pau1, MN <br /> • 55155, has an interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> Island Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br /> Lot 2 Unplatted 23=117-23 21 0'(30 - �' _-- �". �—_. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> • to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Cabin #12 North Hill <br /> area is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions <br /> which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property � <br /> • hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on the <br /> f ollowing f indings: - <br /> 1. . Building footing and foundation consists of concrete <br /> blocks without mortar joints. • <br /> 2. Ceiling height is too low for habitable space. <br /> � 3. Wood is rotten around bottom edges of exterior walls. <br /> .�s <br /> 4. Windows do not meet fire egress requirements because of <br /> the screens and wood flaps which cover window. <br /> . 5. Roof sags and is in disrepair. • <br /> 6. No sewer or water is available to the site. <br /> 7. Fire alarms (smoke. detectors ) are not provided. <br /> 8 . Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a. <br /> � potential fire hazard. <br /> �, <br /> 9 . The surrounding area around the building contains high <br /> • weeds and brush which create a fire hazard. <br /> 10. Building is in a state of deterioration and dilapidation, <br /> thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br /> Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br /> Section 203.
