_ � <br /> Clt� o� ORONO <br /> • � RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCI L <br /> � NO. 1960 <br /> � _ � � A RESOLUTIOAT ORDERIPTG ABATEMENT OF <br /> HAZARDOOS BIIILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br /> VETERAN'S CAMP - DINING HALL <br /> , � WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp, c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> 55155, has an interest; and � <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> . Island Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, and legally described as_ follows: <br /> Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Dining Hall is <br /> • unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions which ' <br /> constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property hazardous <br /> to the public health, safety and welfare based on the following <br /> findings: • <br /> i - ' <br /> 1. Improper footings and foundation. <br /> 2. Improper exits for assembly area and doors swing <br /> improperly. <br /> � 3. Improper fire separation between kitchen and assembly <br /> .�! area (dining hall) . <br /> 4. Improper fire separation between storage and other areas <br /> within the building. <br /> 5. Door knobs missing from emergency exit doors. <br /> 6. Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a <br /> potential fire hazard. Multiplug adapters and <br /> extension cords used for permanent wiring: <br /> 7. Stairs to the south entrance is in a state of disrepair. <br /> 8. Illuminated exit signs are not provided. <br /> • 9. Fire extinguishing system for commercial cooking <br /> equipment is not provided. <br /> 10. Walls of , assembly area is open-wood frame and not <br /> protected by the required one-hour fire resistant <br /> construction. page 1 of 3 <br />
