� _ Ci.t� o� ORONO <br /> • � R�SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Q� <br /> �' NO. 1957 <br /> � . � � A R:�SOLUTIOYV ORDERING ABATF�MENT OF <br /> HAZARDOUS BUILDIAIG ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br /> �IETF,R�Al'S CAMP - SATH HOIISE <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation � <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> 55155, has an interest; and . <br /> • WHEREAS, State oP Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> • Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> . _ , Island Veteran' s Camp, and legally described as follows : <br /> Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 -. - � - �� ' ��� �� <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Bath House is <br /> unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions which ' <br /> constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property hazardous <br /> to the public health, safety and welfare based on the following <br /> • findings: <br /> 1. No electricity is provided. <br /> , 2. Roof caved in. <br /> - 3. Walls are cracked (masonry construction) . <br /> -4. Septic facilities for the structure does not function. <br /> 5. No water supply is provided to the building. <br /> �I . <br /> 6. The surrounding area around the building contains high <br /> weeds and. brush which creates a fire hazard. <br /> 7. Building is in a state of deterioration and dilapidation, <br /> thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br /> Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br /> Section 203. <br /> 8. Orders to remove the structure were issued by �che Building <br /> Official on August 31, 1984, and May 22, 1985. These <br /> orders have not been complied with. ' <br /> . 9. That the City at the request of a representative of <br /> • the Big Island Board of Governors did delay � <br /> consideration of Hazardous Building proceeclings <br /> . from August 12, 1985 to March 10, 1986 . As they <br /> indicated a joint effort of the Board and the State <br /> of Minnesota was working to bring them into <br /> compliance. page 1 of 2 <br /> � . <br />
