1 r. � 1 <br /> Clt� o� ORONO <br /> • ##1955 <br /> � RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> � A RESOLIITI011���tB�$=�G AR�T�'MF.NT OF <br /> • " • • HAZARDOUS BUILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br /> �JyTEgAN�S CAMP - BOAT HOUSE AND GUARD HOUSE <br /> • WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> . organized at�d existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> 55155, has an interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> � Island Veteran' s Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, and legally described as follows� _____w _. --- <br /> �- Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 � �"����� � <br /> WHB1tEAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described boat house and guard - <br /> house is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions . <br /> which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property <br /> hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on the <br /> . following findings: • " <br /> 1. Foundation is crumbling on the south wall of boat house. <br /> 2. � Large garage doors falling from boat house building. <br /> � 3. Boat house building is leariing and appears as if it will <br /> fall ' <br /> over. <br /> � ' 4. Electrical wiring in boat house and guard house is in a <br /> state of disrepair and is a potential fire hazard. <br /> � 5. Guard house has improper footings and is in a state of <br /> deterioration. <br /> 6. The surrounding area around the buildings contains high <br /> weeds and brush which creates a fire hazard. <br /> �7 . Buildings are in a state of deterioration and <br /> dilapidation, thus it is a safety and health hazard <br /> pursuant to Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform <br /> � Building Code, Section 203. . <br /> 8. Orders to remove the structures were issued by the <br /> Building Official on August 31, 1984, and May 22, 1985. <br /> These orders have not been complied with. <br /> 9. Structure is a non-conforming use and has deteriorated <br /> � over 50� of the estimated value per Orono Ordinance <br /> Section 10.03 Subdivision 5 (B) .
