i <br /> :� <br /> ~��7�j,{ ��tr ���� o� ORONO .. . ...... .��.._ . <br /> � b��� � ##1953 <br /> • }���` ������� , FS p UT�N� HE CITY COUNCIL <br /> �� A R�SOL�TID� Oi�llER�N� ABATEMENT OF <br /> ��!:h�'; � HAZARDOUS BOII�D�Ci ACTTnAT AT Rjf� ISLAND , <br /> � � , VETERAN'S CAMP <br /> �• '. �.µ `� . -- CARETARER'S CABIN <br /> ��>�� �'�`= ` WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> � organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> 55155, has an interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> • Island Veteran' s Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big � <br /> � '_ ___Island Veteran' s Camp, and legally_described as follows: <br /> Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 ��� �� � - -� <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> to463.261, hereby finds that the above described caretaker's cabin is <br /> unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions which <br /> constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property hazardous • <br /> to the public health, safety and welfare based on the following <br /> findings: � <br /> ,• 1. Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a <br /> potential fire hazard. • <br /> 2. Septic eff luent is directed towards the lake. ' <br /> 3: Water supply is retrieved from the lake. <br /> 4. Roof is in poor condition. <br /> `� 5: The surrounding area around the building contains high <br /> weeds and brush which creates a fire hazard. <br /> .x. <br /> . 6. Building is in a state of deterioration and dilapidation, <br /> thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br /> � Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br /> Section 203. <br /> 7. Structure is a non-conforming use and has deteriorated <br /> over 50g of the estimated construction value per Orono <br /> Ordinance Section 10.03 Subdivision 5 (B) . Structure must <br /> be removed. " <br /> � � 8. Orders to remove the structure were issued by the Building <br /> Official on August 31, 1984 , and May 22, 1985. These <br /> orders have not been comnlied with. <br /> • 9. That the City at the request of a representative of <br /> the Big Island Board of Governors did delay <br /> consideration of Hazardous Building proceedings � <br /> from August 12, 1985 to March 10, 1986 . As they <br /> indicated a joint effort of the Board and the State <br /> of Minnesota was working to bring them into <br /> compliance. Paae 1 of 2 <br />
