r <br /> :1� ' � ` Clt� o� ORONO <br /> r � ,t, <br /> • � �l� • <br /> ��� <br /> � � R�SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> : � ��.': NO. 1944 <br /> • - � . .� <br /> A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br /> HAZARDOUS BUILDIIdG ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br /> VETERAN'S CAMp - CAgIN C HILL ARR� <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> Ui1HEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp, c/o <br /> Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br /> 55155, has an interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br /> Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br /> Island Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br /> Island Veteran' s Camp, and legally described as follows: <br /> � Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br /> considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br /> • to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Cabin C Hill area is <br /> unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions which <br /> constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property hazardous <br /> to the public health, safety and welfare based on the following <br /> findings: <br /> , <br /> l. Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a <br /> potential fire hazard. � . <br /> , 2. Pier footings with no mortar between concrete blocks. <br /> .� ' 3. No interior finish on walls or ceiling. <br /> .f: <br /> 4. Inadequate fire egress windows. � <br /> 5. Fire alarms (smoke detectors) not provided. <br /> 6. Exterior walls are rotting around edges at bottom. <br /> 7 . Shingles on roof need replacing and roof possibly leaks. <br /> 8 . The surrounding area around the building contains high <br /> weeds and brush which creates a fire hazard. " <br /> 9. Building is in a state of deterioration and dilapidation, <br /> ." thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br /> • Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br /> Section 203. <br /> 10. Orders to remove the structure were issued by the Building <br /> Official on August 31, 1984 , and May 22, 1985. These <br /> orders have not been complied with. <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
