The addition of gutters <br /> extensions, positive drainage, sump system, drain tile, etc. should be considered <br /> to relieve hydrostatic pressure buildup that will affect the foundation walls over <br /> time. The block should be allowed to dry out and then painted/treated as <br /> required to remove water buildup, damage, or mold. <br /> h. Shiftin�,crackin�, adiustin�of the existin�and new materials should be expected <br /> for some time as the existin� load path will be altered do to the redistribution of <br /> floor and roof loads. <br /> PROFESSIONAL OPINION <br /> 3. It is our professional engineering opinion that the existing foundation walls at the '; <br /> single family residence noted will be in acceptable condition upon completion of the � <br /> grouting,reinforcing,tuckpointing,and insulating for the proposed addition. The i <br /> previously mentioned water mitigation recommendations are listed to aid in the <br /> reduction of water infiltratian, extend the life span of the foundation system, increase <br /> performance of the foundation walls, and maintain long term structural adequacy of the i <br /> foundation system. <br /> GENERAL <br /> i <br /> 4. The observations and opinions expressed in this report are based on our professional <br /> engineering judgment and professional practice, as well as limited visual observations of <br /> exposed materials onlv. , <br /> 5. No other engineering was performed or requested for this project.
