i <br /> I <br /> . � <br /> / <br /> / ;� <br /> � �� <br /> * - s b�.� Ci.t of ORONO <br /> �;.x: � <br /> • ; ,�.. <br /> � .�: ' RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> r:,: <br /> � �;� NO. `1633,_ ��� <br /> • - • • � � <br /> A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE SELECTION OF <br /> ' "SITE M" AS A POTENTIAL SOLID WASTE <br /> LANDFILL SITE <br /> WHEREAS, Metropolitan Council is considering the <br /> selection of two additional solid waste landfill sites in <br /> Hennepin County; and <br /> � WHEREAS, the City of Orono is concerned that the <br /> selection of "Site M" as a landfill could have an adverse <br /> , effect on the City of Orono and the entire Lake Minnetonka <br /> Watershed due to the pollution of surface waters and urider- <br /> , ground water reservoirs and the generation of .traffic; and <br /> ' - WHEREAS, Lake Minnetonka �is a unique and vital regional <br /> recreational resource which is also surrounded by thirteen cities <br /> with a total population of 75,000 people, 13,000 of which live <br /> on the shores of the Lake. � <br /> • � NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City ,Council <br /> - of the City of Orono objects to the ' selection of "Site M" as a <br /> � solid waste landfill site. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a <br /> regular meeting held April 23, 1984. <br /> � �� <br /> .
