Permits are required for all fire sprinkler installation and repair. All work shall be done by a licensed <br /> fire sprinkler contractor. Two sets of plans, specification data sheets, fire flow tests and hydraulic <br /> calculation sheets shall be submitted to the Orono Fire Marshal a minimuin of 7 days before start of <br /> work. <br /> 2. Permits can be applied for by mail at PO box 66, Orono, MN, 55323 or in person at, <br /> 2750 Kelly Parkway; Phone: (952) 249-4600. Permits are also available online at: <br /> www.ci.orono.mn.us <br /> 3. All systems shall be designed, installed and maintained to N.F.P.A.-13,N.F.P.A.-25, Minnesota State <br /> Building Code, Minnesota State Fire Code and Standards. All attic systems are to be spaced at <br /> maximum l30 square foot coverage. Plastic pipe will not be allowed at any time in attic spaces. <br /> 4. All equipment installed shall be U.L. or F.M. approved for fire protection service. Water flow test � <br /> shall be completed on all new systems. Water flow test reports shall be submitted to the Orono Fire ' <br /> Marshal along with plan submittal. <br /> 5. Yard or wall post indicator valves are required. All indicating and control values installed shall be <br /> provided with tamper protection. On dry systems, the control valve to service the pressure switch (air) <br /> shall be supervised. <br /> 6. Inspectors test valve shall be installed on each floor level or zone of system. All systems shall have <br /> main drain and inspectors test valves piped to the outside. <br /> 7. No water is to be introduced into the sprinkler system until main has been thoroughly flushed. 200# <br /> air test and flushing shall be witnessed by the City of Orono Water Department. <br /> 8. An approved audible/visual device wired to main flow switch shall be installed above F.D. <br /> connection and in areas normally occupied by tenants. <br /> 9. EXISTING SYSTEMS: [f any changes in the hydraulically most demanding area, change in <br /> occupancy classification or an addition of 20 or more heads,hydraulic calculations and flow test will <br /> be required. <br /> 10. 7'he Orono Fire Marshal shall witness all final flow or trip tests. Appointments can be made by <br /> calling the Fire Marshall at(952)473-9701, 8:00-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. 24-hours notice is <br /> requested. <br /> 11. When required, (30 foot building height) stairwell standpipe's shall have 2 '/z gate valves installed <br /> with 2 '/z x 1 '/z caps. <br />
