Legal Description
' 710 Big Island; Lake Minnetonka; City of Orono; Hennepin County
' B. Site Conditions
The property is located on an island of Lake Minnetonka. From the lake the property slopes up a
10%— 12% incline with mature maple and oak trees.
C. Soil Conditions
, The Hennepin County soil survey mapped the area as the Lester Series. The Lester Series is the
Minnesota state soil and is very common in Des Moines Lobe glacial till deposits of central
Minnesota, specifically Wright and Hennepin Counties.
A copy of the description for the Lester Series is included in Appendix D. The soil survey indicates
the soils in the Lester Series are very deep, well drained loamy soils formed in glacial till. Eight soil
borings were completed in the general area of the proposed and alternate drain field areas, see Fig. 1.
The results of the soil borings indicate that the potential for seasonal saturation exists at 24" - 32"
below the surface in the area investigated. This is evidenced by the presence of distinct
redoximorphic features. Redoximorphic features in a higher landscape position such as this are
likely the result of a stalled wetting front within the fine texture soils and will likely only occur
sporadically; however the srte cannot support a standard subsurface drain field without achieving
' additional vertical separation distance reductions prior to dispersal. Percolation tests previously
completed indicates the underlying soil has an average percolation rate of 28.2 minutes per inch.
' D. Selection and Sizing of Treatment System
The proposed residence is a three bedroom, Type II single family dwelling with an estimated daily
, flow from the residence of 300 gallons per day. A mound system design had previously been
completed near the proposed drain field. New soil borings completed indicates that the location of
r1
