  ..7-P TESTING INC. Steven B. Schirmers • MPCA Cert.No. 627

951 Katydid Lane NE • St. Michael, MN 55376 • (612) 497-3566
FAX (612)-497-5011
State License #394
January 15, 2000
Kacy Rasmussen
420 So. Brown Rd.
Orono, Henn. Co., MN
This site has an existing on-site sewage treatment system consisting of 1 tank
(cesspool) and a small seepage bed which does not meet the required 3' separation
from the seasonally saturated soil. The system is classified as failed under Minnesota
Chapter 7080 rules.
This on-site sewage treatment system is designed for a Type 1, six bedroom home, in
accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Chapter 7080 and local
ordinances. The only site available for a new system will need approval to be 20' from a
Type 111 wetland, city code is 75' for the system.
The soils on this site are SCS soils mapped - LrB - Lester loam bordered by - Co-
cordova silty clay loam. The seasonally saturated soils were located at 18" to 34"
(mottled soil). Due to the seasonally saturated soils, a Pressurized Mound System will
need to be installed to treat septic effluent. The bottom of the treatment area must be
located at least 3' above the saturated soils.
In the area of test hole#1, 10" of fill soil was found. A percolation test was completed in
the original soil which indicated the soils are not compacted. The fill soil will need to be
removed in this area (see site plan) with a backhoe to prevent compaction.
The soils at a depth of 12" have a percolation rate of 10.9 mpi. There was
approximately 2" to 8" of frost at the time the testing was completed.
1
