To: Street File
From: Chris Pence, On-Site Systems Manager
Date: May 9, 2000
Re: Septic System at 420 Brown Road South
The above described property is replacing a non-compliant septic system. The design was submitted
by S-P Testing and approved on February 3, 2000. A septic permit was issued to Brad Hayes of
Hayes and Sons Excavation on May 2, 2000.
During a pre-inspection, it was noted that Halla Landscaping of Chaska had driven across the
proposed drainfield site. The homeowner then agreed to take pictures of the disturbed area. The
disturbed area (10%-20% of the entire drainfield area) has been compacted to an unknown extent.
The compaction could cause the mound system to fail due to the fact that it is unknown how well
the disturbed area will absorb water. It has been very dry lately and it has been determined by
myself and Brad Hayes that the compacted area is not that serious. Also, the compaction has
occurred on the upslope side of the mound. Special precaution will need to be taken to rough up the
compacted areas.
.The system should function adequately if maintained properly. The septic tanks should be pumped
at least once every three years. It is recommended that the amount of water being used should be
conserved as much as possible.
cc. Kacy Rasmussen
Brad Hayes
Steve Schirmers
